A crucial way to keep your house up and running during an outage is install a transfer switch and connect it to a portable power station. 1. Gather Your Gear and Tools
Before installation, ensure you have all the required gear and tools ready. These include:
DBS3500 portable power station x2
Generator parallel box
Transfer switch
Electric drill
Screwdriver
Wire cutters/stripper
Hammer
Four anchors and screws
6 or 10 wire connectors- depending on the model you purchased
2. Turn off the power
For your safety, always switch off the main panel in the load center before starting any work.
3. Mount the Transfer Switch
Install the PRO/TRAN® 2 Transfer Switch near your electrical panel, following the manufacturer's instructions. Note that installation of high voltage wiring is dangerous and may result in electric shock or fire. This work should be done by a licensed electrician who can do so safely and will ensure the installation meets all safety standards. A transfer switch installation shall always be installed by a professional.
4. Connect Two Power Stations in Parallel
Plug the ends of the DBS3500 parallel connection box into the parallel ports of both DBS3500 power stations.
5. Connect the Portable Power Stations to Transfer Switch
Insert one end of the PRO/TRAN® 2 cable into the parallel connection box and connect the other end to the PRO/TRAN® 2 Transfer Switch.
6. Turn on the Power Station
Turn both DBS3500 power generators and their AC switches on. The red indicator on the parallel connection box and on the Transfer Switch will light up.
7. Test the Power System
Flip all the switches on the Transfer Switch upwards to activate the system.
